ICRC Food Distribution Deynile District In Benadir Region

The larger 77 camp in Daynile district is the area prone to drought and food insecurity and have influx population of 15000 households. During the severe drought livestock holdings were drastically reduced so that many families became destitute and were forced to migrate to Mogadishu city. Deynile district are living in deplorable conditions in congested camps in the worst food, shelter, and wash conditions. The situation is worsened by the fact that they don’t have purchasing power to acquire or to cover their basic needs of life.  On 10th July 2012, HINNA has received the food items from ICRC that comprised of rice, beans, V. Oil and some soup for Daynile district particularly for IDP camps in 77 settlement as well as the families those are most in need that are of host community. The total number of beneficiaries that ICRC has allocated for the food is 3186 HHs. HINNA in collaboration with Daynile local authority and community leaders has re-allocated the number of beneficiaries to be doubled due to their largest influx in the settlement that reached to 6372 HH in order to benefit this food aid.
