Food Security & Livelihood
Food Assistance and Agricultural Support
Food Security and Livelihood program is designed to address both immediate and long-term food needs in Somalia’s most vulnerable communities. In response to food shortages caused by drought and conflict, HINNA provides emergency food distributions, targeting displaced families and those at risk of malnutrition. In collaboration with partners, we use food vouchers and direct distributions to ensure that families have access to enough food to meet their daily nutritional requirements. Beyond emergency food aid, HINNA supports agricultural development by providing farmers with seeds, tools, and training in modern farming techniques. We focus on improving food production and promoting sustainable agricultural practices that increase crop yields and reduce vulnerability to future food shortages. HINNA’s agricultural projects also include the rehabilitation of irrigation systems and the construction of canals to ensure that farmers have reliable access to water for their crops.
Livelihood Development
To promote long-term economic stability, HINNA works to create livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations, particularly women and youth. Our livelihood programs include vocational training, small business development, and income-generating activities such as livestock rearing and market gardening. By helping individuals and families develop sustainable sources of income, HINNA reduces their reliance on aid and promotes self-sufficiency. This, in turn, contributes to the resilience of communities, enabling them to better withstand the impacts of future crises
