A rapid joint assessment conducted by WASH cluster Agency member was noticed that there is an immediate need of emergency WASH services in several areas in Mogadishu the assessment also defined that majority of the IDPs have less access to basics in particular : Food , proper shelter, clean and safe water , as well as sanitation sites and most of the IDPs visited especially in Dharkenlay district were newly arrived from Mogadisho and Lower shabelle , during the assessment the team noticed that there is poor health and open defecations were also observed in the camps , according to the majority responses regarding to the WASH needs, HINNA nominated to distribute supply Hub NFIs as to reduce risks and the emergency situations, on 20th and 21st December 2014 HINNA distributed NFIs for 1500 HH in 5 settlements in Dharkenley district , the settlements received Supply hub NFIs including Sagale , Casha Qow, Sowda, Daldhis and Hiran. HINNA covered all distribution costs and each House hold received 5 bars of Soap, 200 tablets and 2 jerrycans . The NFIs have been distributed at one distribution center where the beneficiaries had an access without any protection related risks. The local authority has been in charge of security provision during the distribution dates and ensured that the process remained effective without any challenges.Furthermore, they also participated in crowd management and control as a strategy of supporting weak beneficiaries. Finally the distribution occurred safely and successfully and the entire target IDPs were very happy.
